Growing cooperation between UK and UAE on clean, renewable energy
The UK Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates Philip Parham hailed today UAE's continuous efforts to align with the shift towards clean and renewable energy.

Speaking at the Energy Industries Council (EIC) Connect Middle East event held today at Saadiyat Island in Abu Dhabi, Ambassador Parham highlighted the Abu Dhabi Economic vision for 2030 which aims at having 64% of GDP from non Oil Sectors. This growing and diversifying includes a strong emphasis on sustainability, he added.
Ambassador Parham stressed that the UK shares a common interest with UAE in environmental matters and is one of just five countries in the world with a Triple A rating in the World Energy Council鈥檚 Energy Sustainability Index.
He touched on UK and UAE鈥檚 Offshore wind, solar and nuclear projects as sources for clean and renewal energy which will give further opportunity for the UAE and UK to work together, share skills, expertise and training programmes for the future generation.
The UAE-UK business Council agreed targets last month of 拢25b by 2020, and the EIC Connect Middle East 2015 will look to directly contribute to this target by promoting UK capability to the major companies in the UAE.
