Scottish Secretary responds to Scottish GDP figures
New Scottish GDP figures published for September 2024

The latest Scottish GDP figures have been published this morning for the month of聽聽and for the聽听(闯耻濒测-厂别辫迟别尘产别谤).
Scottish Secretary Ian Murray said:
鈥淕rowth is our number one mission and while we鈥檝e聽continued to provide stability and take steps to fix the foundations, there鈥檚 a lot more we can do to ensure families feel the benefits of that growth sooner.
鈥淥ur Get Britain Working strategy launched yesterday will benefit people right across the UK through Jobcentre reform and the biggest overhaul of workers鈥� rights in a generation is ending exploitative zero-hours contracts and rewarding hard work with a true living wage. Investment remains key, that鈥檚 why the UK government is investing 拢1.4 billion in growth projects over the next ten years, and established GB Energy which will be backed by 拢8.3 billion of investment.
鈥淭his is alongside the biggest budget settlement for the Scottish Government in the history of devolution.

Scotland鈥檚 onshore GDP is estimated to have grown by 0.3% in September, following a contraction of 0.6% in August.

Scotland鈥檚 GDP grew by 0.3% in real terms during the third quarter of 2024 (July to September), after growing 0.4% in the previous quarter (April to June). In the third quarter, GDP in the UK as a whole grew by 0.1% after growing 0.5% in the previous quarter.

Compared to the same quarter last year, Scotland鈥檚 GDP grew by 0.9%. Over the same period, GDP in the UK as a whole grew by 1.0%
