British Minister shares the experience of the UK Government鈥檚 efficiency and reform programme with Pakistan
UK鈥檚 Minister for the Cabinet Office and Paymaster General, met Pakistan鈥檚 Minister of Planning, National Reforms and Development

On the final day of his visit to Pakistan, the UK鈥檚 Minister for the Cabinet Office and Paymaster General, the Right Honourable Francis Maude MP, met Pakistan鈥檚 Minister of Planning, National Reforms and Development, Ahsan Iqbal.
He addressed a high-level roundtable of senior officials from Pakistan鈥檚 Ministry of Planning, Development and Reforms to discuss the experience of Civil Service reforms in the British Government.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Maude said:
The UK Government鈥檚 efficiency and reform programme is built around the principles of driving greater accountability through transparency, controlling spend across departments over common goods and services, empowering those delivering services, doing more online and encouraging public servants to try new things and take sensible risks. We are also supporting public mutuals, where public servants 鈥榮pin out鈥 to form employee-led organisations delivering public services. There are already over 100 such mutuals in the UK delivering 拢1.5 billion of public services a year.
These reforms have helped the central UK Government save taxpayers 拢14.3 billion last year alone, compared to a 2009-2010 baseline.
