David Cameron, UK Prime Minister

鈥淚 am writing to express my condolences and those of the British Government to you and the Zambian people on the death of President Sata.

鈥淚 was deeply saddened to hear of the President鈥檚 passing. He played a commanding role in the public life of his country for over two decades, and I know that his loss will be sorely felt in Zambia and beyond.

鈥淚 had the privilege of meeting the President on the occasion of Her Majesty鈥檚 Diamond Jubilee in 2012. It was clear to me from our conversation that the President鈥檚 in-depth knowledge of the United Kingdom, drawn from his years living and working here, had helped further strengthen the already strong links between our countries.

鈥淚 know that your Government are receiving support from our High Commission in Lusaka and from the Foreign & Commonwealth Office in London. If there is anything further that my office or the Government can do to assist in the coming days, please do not hesitate to ask.

鈥淥nce again, please accept my sincere condolences.鈥
