This research explores disabled people鈥檚 experiences of travelling by rail in Great Britain.

It adds to the Department for Transport鈥檚 (DfT) evidence base on the experiences, barriers, challenges and enablers for disabled users and non-users when travelling by train or considering doing so.

The research involved:

  • a review of existing evidence
  • 60 interviews with disabled rail users and non-users
  • 10 accompanied journeys with disabled users of rail

Fieldwork took place between October and November 2024. Verian carried out this research on behalf of DfT.
