This guidance is for both those called upon to perform the role of 鈥榓ppropriate adult鈥� and the person benefiting from the appropriate adult鈥檚 support.
Appropriate adults have an important role to play, both in the custody environment and the voluntary interview scenario, by ensuring that the person they are assisting understands what is happening to them and why.
