This direction has closed and a direction issued by the Department for Education (DfE) on 11 June 2025 replaces it.
This revised direction requires the council to continue taking steps to improve its children鈥檚 social care services, including co-operating with the DfE-appointed Children鈥檚 Services Commissioner, Matt Dunkley CBE.
It follows a聽聽that judged the overall effectiveness of the council鈥檚 children鈥檚 social care services to be inadequate.
This direction replaces the earlier statutory direction issued to the council in May 2021.
