TCM1000366 - How to check for an open appeal

Changes to previous version - new guidance.

Step 1

On the ‘Function Menu�

  • select ‘Applicationâ€� on the toolbar
  • select ‘Viewâ€� from the options available. You’ll be taken to the ‘Key Entry Data - Applicantâ€� screen
  • enter the customer’s NINO
  • select the ‘Allâ€� checkbox
  • select ‘OKâ€�.

If you’re taken to the ‘Select Application� screen

  • select the relevant claim
  • select ‘OKâ€�. You’ll be taken to the ‘Application Summaryâ€� screen
  • go to Step 2.

If you’re taken to the ‘Select Application Version� screen

  • select the latest version of the claim
  • select ‘OKâ€�. You’ll be taken to the ‘Application Summaryâ€� screen
  • go to Step 2.

If you’re taken straight to the ‘Application Summary� screen, go to Step 2.

Step 2

On the ‘Application Summary� screen.

If the message ‘Application under appeal� displays, there is an open appeal on the claim

  • select ‘OKâ€�. You’ll be taken back to the ‘Application Summaryâ€� screen
  • go to Step 3.

If the message ‘Application under appeal� doesn’t display, there isn’t an open appeal on the claim.

Step 3

On the ‘Application Summary� screen

  • select ‘Fileâ€� on the toolbar
  • select ‘Nextâ€� from the options available. You’ll be taken to the ‘Function Menuâ€�
  • select ‘Householdâ€� on the toolbar
  • select ‘View Notesâ€� from the options available. You’ll be taken to the ‘View Household Notesâ€� screen
  • check the ‘Retained Notesâ€� field for any messages relating to an open appeal
  • in the ‘Tax Year Based Notesâ€� field

    • select ‘Appealsâ€� in the ‘Category Filterâ€� field
    • check to see whether there are any open appeals. These will have messages with the prefix AC, AS, AM and AW
  • select the ‘Select Tax Year Endâ€� field to check all the available tax years for any messages with the prefix AC, AS, AM and AW.
