Abstract

This report provides a case study of the opportunities for using mobile networks to improve access to energy, based on the network of Telef贸nica Movistar Nicaragua, a subsidiary of the Spanish-based global operator Telef贸nica. The report finds that there is a potential business case for mobile operators to support access to energy and phone charging services in off-grid communities
