Abstract

Globally, one of the most common forms of violence against women is that perpetrated by a husband or other intimate male partner (Krug 2002). Intimate partner violence (IPV) takes a variety of forms, including physical violence (ranging from slaps, punches and kicks to assaults with a weapon and homicide) and sexual violence (including forced or coerced sex, or forced participation in degrading sexual acts).
