Abstract

The prominence of the resilience narrative in international development contexts has led to a drive to justify spending on resilience-related interventions. This resource deals with the thorny issue of how to measure resilience. It presents bite-size chunks of information and signposts to other material that explores the following themes:

  • What are the challenges associated with trying to measure resilience?
  • What resilience measurement frameworks exist and how useful are they?
  • What have we learnt from programmes that have attempted to measure resilience?
  • How can we monitor and evaluate resilience interventions?
  • What is the evidence on reducing adverse livelihood impacts from shocks and stresses?
